Mrs. Sam Jenkins agreed that we could use the unfinished A-frame building on Coster Road for a fundamental Baptist church if we could finish the inside. The first meeting on Coster Road was May 25, 1975. Fifty-two people were present for Sunday School and the morning worship. The offering was $435. The Long family came for membership on that day.
There were many needs for the church - insurance, sheetrock for interior walls, piano, heat for winter, chairs, hymn books, pastor's salary, insulation, gravel rock for the road, a fence to keep the cattle away from the building. There was no water or bathrooms. During the winter months when the weather was real cold, services were held in the pastor's home because of inadequate heat.
Herman Miller, Ray Long, and others worked hard to put up sheetrock and build a chimney for the furnace. Jimmy Merrell and his brother installed the furnace.
A used piano was bought and Jack Payton gave us several hymnbooks. Later East Park Baptist Church gave us about 25 Broadman Hymnals.
The first missionary to be supported was Bob and Mary Rutledge on February 15, 1978.
Ron Ehmann was the first to be ordained to preach the Gospel on May 26, 1976. He is a pastor in Arizona now.
Students from Bob Jones University would come to assist in Bible Clubs, Sunday School, and visitation. John Barnett, Jeff Eshelman, Ralph Lindblad, Greg Miklas, Ken Woodard, Dan Peltier, and Curt Russell were some of the very faithful ones. Greg Miklas was ordained in January 1985. He had a wonderful ministry with the youth. His ministry was short lived on the earth as he passed away on August 17, 1987 at the age of 30.
Emile and Dianne Barrouk joined the church and were very active. Emile served as treasurer for many years. He also taught the adult Sunday School class. Dianne helped with the children's ministry.
The first deacons were Mark Hackett and Mark Lawrence. Mark Hackett was an early member and very faithful in serving. He taught the adult Sunday School class. He built the cement steps on the front of the A-frame church and acquired pews from Trinity Bible Church and refinished them. He married Susan Mason and about a year later they moved to Ireland as missionaries.
Mark Lawrence and his wife Darlene joined in August of 1978 after attending for several months. Mark led the singing. With help from others in the church such as the pastor, Felton Poteet and Bobby Whitlock, he built a balcony and two rooms in the back for classrooms and nursery in the A-frame building. He also installed the light fixtures and electrical needs. Darlene played the piano and taught the children's Sunday School class and Junior Church.
David and Terry VanderJagt joined the church in 1979 and were very active. David helped with leading the singing, and he and Terry often sang specials. He also preached on various occasions. God called David to be a chaplain in the service. He served in Germany but is now back in the states.
Toby Perry was ordained and he and his wife Susan went on deputation to be missionaries to Alaska. It did not work out for them to go to Alaska.
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Wuest, former missionaries to Mexico, joined the church and were faithful members. They headed the church cleaning committee for several years.
Three of the Barton families were very active, the Glenn & Alma Barton, Fred & Cynthia Barton and Theron & Ruth Barton. Theron Barton died in 1987 and a digital piano was dedicated to his memory.
Jim and Diane Jordan lived in the back rooms of the church while their home was being built. He became a deacon. They provided a new roof.
Evangelists Carl Woodbury, John Winstead and Bob Shelton preached revivals. John Decker was a special speaker.
In 1983 Mrs. Jenkins sold the property and we were forced to find another meeting place. The present property was available. Mark Hackett loaned us the $1,000 for the down payment. This building was an old store and in very bad condition but there was water, a bathroom, and rooms in the back for Sunday School and a large room in the front for worship. Heat was from kerosene heaters until electric heat was later installed.
The following missionaries were supported through the years:

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bundt
Christ Rock Youth Ministries

Mr. and Mrs. Toby Perry
